3. Bowl of warm soapy water
4. Vinegar
5. Salt
6. Ammonia
7. Linen Cloth or Flannelette's Cloth for drying

Method
1. Remove the dust from surface.
2. Wash the surface with warm soapy water,
3. With the addition of ammonia, allowing 1/2 teaspoonful of ammonia ,to one quart of water.
4. Give a final rinsing with cold water, Vinegar and salt.
5. Dry with a soft cloth.
6. Finish drying in the open air, by a wide open.

Room Mainteance Proceduse is most Important in Hotel

In hotels maintenance work is done by Engineering Department. But before the Housekeeping Department is to check or detect the places o things that requires or needs maintenance . Then it reports to the Engineering department . The Housekeeping Lodges the complaint in a maintenance order form and hands it over to the Engineering control Room. Then the Engineering Control Room gives work or deres to the concurred Mechanic, Plumber, Carpenter etc. When the concerned Mechanic, Plumber or Carpenter go to the room for maintenance, the room attendants roe is to open the door of the guest room where the maintance work is done under his/her supervision when the work is complete, then the Housekeeping Department staff sign the work order slip which means the works complete.

Tailor/Upholsterer's Duites in Hotel

Tailor/Upholsterer: Tailor/Upholsterer should be necessary in Hotel. Tailor Room must be clean and dry. The Tailors attend to the stitching and mending work of Linen and Uniforms.


1 Mend all Hotel damaged Linen.
2. Mend all Hotel damaged Uniforms
3. Refurnish all damaged Upholstery.
4. Withdraw material form the store and take to the work their place.
5 Cut the material as per requirement of each particular item.
6. To check all the quality of spring, Foam.and replace.

Cloak Room Attendants: Cloak Room Attendants are boy or sometimes girl who clean and maintain in public area guest toilets. Their responsibility is the supply of clean and dry towels. Like: Bath Towels, Hand Towels, Bath Maths, Face Towels, etc.

Housemen: Housemen is a person who cleaning required in guest room and public areas. Housemen' s duties is very heavy. Like, Cleaning of windows Panes, Brassoing, Vacuuming , Sweeping etc,

Horticulturist: This person is responsible to manage hotel garden and supply Folwers Required for interior decoration . The team may be made of Head Gardener and Junior Gardener.

Room Attendants: This Department is very necessary in hotel. They work udder the Floor Supervisor. They are also called Room Maids. They do the cleaning of guest rooms and guest bathrooms. Room Attendants are responsible for cleanliness and maintenance of all hotel's rooms. Housemen help them their work.

Hat-Checkers: It is also necessary in Hotel. Hat-Checkers is a Service provide by super hotels in cold climates would carefully label these guest articles.

Organisation of a Housekeeping Department

Assistant Housekeeper: He is second to the Executive Housekeeper. He help the executive Housekeeper. He is responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of the floors of the hotel.

Linen and Uniforms Supervisor: They are responsible of giving clean linen and uniforms. He is help Tailors, Helpers, Assistants, Attendants should manage, plan and provide clean service able uniforms to the staff of the hotel

Desk Control Supervisor: This is a very important position in a hotel. He is the head of the front Office. The housekeeping desk must be manned 24 hours as guests and staff will contact this desk to transmit or receive information concerning housekeeping. Desk Control Supervisor who coordinates with the front Office for Information on departure rooms. He is handing over cleared rooms.

Floor Supervisor: He is responsible for the cleanliness, maintenance and attractiveness of the guest floor. He checking all the public areas in hotel. He is insure maintaining the standard of hotel. It does training and recruiting of new housekeeping staff. He co-ordinate with Front Office, Laundry, Engineering, Room Service.

Night Supervisor: He is responsible all housekeeping staff in hotel. He is also responsible holds special position in housekeeping department as they should be able to handle any aspect of housekeeping at night including desk operations, issue of uniforms and linens on emergency in Hotel

Lost and Found Section

Lost and Found Section: This Department must a small speech away from the thoroughfare. It should be dry and cool with a cup board to store all guest articles that are Lost and Found may be Claimed Later.

Floor Pantries: It should be a floor pantry to keep a supplies of Linen. Like, Towels, Bed Sheets, Bed Spreads, Napkins,Curtains etc. This should be cleaning supplies for floor in hotel. Floor Pantries is the housekeeping nerve centre for the floor in hotel.
Floor Pantries should be away from guest view and suited the service Laundry near the service elevators. Floor must have shelves and cupboards, to stack all hotel 's Linen and Garment Supplies.

Heavy Equipment Stores: This Department will be a room to store bulky items. Like, machines , Ladders, Vacuum Cleaners, Shampoo etc. Heavy Equipment Stores must have a clean and dry. This should also be securely Locked to avoid stealing by other department in hotel.

Green House: It is necessary in hotel. The Green house should have wooden racks to store pots etc. A horticultur comes under housekeeping normally. Green House to foster specialised plans is necessary in the garden areas in Hotel.

Head Gardener: It it also necessary in hotel. Keeping in mind cleanliness aesthetic appeal and freshness all the year round through a well motivated team of gardeners.

Housekeeping Desk Control: It is the main communication centre of Housekeeping. Here all information is sent out and received the departments. It is the nerve centre for co-ordination with the Front Office. This room should have a desk and chair with one or more than one phone. It should have a large notice board for staff Schedules day-to day. It is where all staff report for duty and check out at the duty end.

Heavy Equipment Store: A room to store bulky equipment such as Vacuum Cleaners, Shampoo Machines, Ladder etc. In hotel most available Heavy Equipment Store. But Nepal's hotel does not it.

Uniform Room: This room stocks the uniforms in current use. Tt adjoins the Laundry for smooth operation. Tt has a counter across where exchange of uniform takes place.

Executive Housekeeper: He is the head of the department of Housekeeping. His position is most important in a Hotel. He prepares(Plans) schedules and trains staff. He has authority to discharge undisciplined staff.

Housekeeping that Co-ordinates with Food and Bevarage/Stores

Food and Beverage:The Restaurants and banquets constantly required Clean Table Clothes, Napkins, Uniforms, Cook Coat etc.

Their staff as well as those in the kitchen a require clean uniforms -The former restaurants because they are in guest contact and the required in kitchen by most governments.

Stores: Large hotels have a Housekeeping store that linen and supplies independently hotels may stock them in the general store except for linen which should be issued to the Housekeeping Department.

The co- ordination with the stores would ensure the availability of day-to day requirements of Housekeeping.

Department that Housekeeping co-ordinates with Laundry

Laundry: This is a department that can either enhance or mar of Housekeekping service. The responsibility of Laundry to housekeeping is Two- fold.
1. To wash and dryclean linen and staff uniforms to a very high standard of cleaniness.
2. To supply clean uniforms and linen to Housekeeping on time.

Housekeeping has to ensure that clean linen is issued to Guest Room, Health Clubs, Restaurants etc.. as this directly reflects the quality and image of the establishment if these are not received of time from the Laundry, Rooms wouldn't be ready or Restaurants would not open etc.

The co-ordination becomes critical in view of the large volume of linen and uniforms that is involved.

Front Office: Co-ordination of Housekeeping with front office is important. After the departures of guest from the hotel room, frong office inrorms the housekeeping department.

Then the housekeeping department cleans and prepares the vacted room for sale. After the cleaning of the room, the housekeeping Floor Supervisor informs the front office and bands over the room to the front office for sale.

Personnel: Housekeeping co-ordination with personnel department is for recruitment of new staff, salary , locket Facilities, Indisciplane, Identity Cards, etc...

Purchase: Housekeeping co-ordinates with purchase department for different iteams required for guest in the room. like , Linen, Detergent etc..

Security: The guest room is the most private palce and a hotel goes to great and security by gambling, smuggling etc.. Housekeeping has to be alert to these going on and seek the security department ' s intervention if necessary.

Qualities of Housekeeping

personal hygiene : Housekeeping Staff must take bath regularly. Fingernails should be short. Housekeeping staff must be neat and clean. Especially those who service guest room and bed. They must wear clean clothes and his hair and fingernails must be clean and short. They must take steps to ensure that no body or mouth odor is present. They must re post to the doctor in case if infections.
